Continuing discussion on vision
Every existing company has an annual budget either as a continuation of the prior year’s results or a specific base case budget.
We can start with the assumption that the budget reflects the plan for the next steps towards the completion of the vision.
How detailed this plan is depends on the stage of growth of the company. Early stages will be simple and tactical. Later stages will be more complex and strategic.
Other documents that will help in understanding the vision is the funnel of business and related processes.
There are many attributes of the company that are not shown in the budget or the funnel. These include the purpose statement, the values by which the company lives and the activities necessary to maintain the brand and Image of the company.
Your challenge now is to pull these documents together and validate and restate the mission going forward. It is very important that the missions, goals and all of the other activities of the company truly be connected. If you are off mission you are going to end up somewhere you don’t want to be.
Let’s discuss how this is turning out for you. Send me an email with thoughts and updates
